Hi, I'm Jan Weatherburn.
I am a true-blue Aussie:- born, raised and educated right here in Brisbane.
My experience in the bookkeeping business spans more than 30 years in various forms, including treasurer of a large sporting club and finance/admin partner in an IT business.
While living in Cape Town, South Africa, I established my own bookkeeping practice and ran it successfully for 12 years. Many of my clients were with me for that whole time.
Upon returning to Australia, I worked at a Capalaba public practice accounting firm for 3 years and gained valuable experience in local practices and bookkeeping methods.
I am now located on beautiful Russell Island, but internet access and online software means I can work on your accounts wherever you may be as long as you don't need in-house services.
I thoroughly enjoy my work and the part I play in helping business owners keep their accounts in order and meet their financial and taxation responsibilities. With considerable experience in setting up and maintaining employee payroll systems, I handle the payroll runs and superannuation for most of my clients.
Due to my accounting experience, I am able to prepare end-of-year accounts which meet the requirements of accountants, thus saving clients time and money.
I am a registered BAS agent with the Tax Practitioners Board and a Member in Practice of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB). I have a Certificate IV Financial Services (Bookkeeping) qualification, which since 2012 is a standard requirement for all BAS Agents.
As required for continued registration as a BAS Agent, I attend lectures and webinars run by ICB, ATO and the various software houses, as well as my own reading and research, to maintain currency with all matters related to bookkeeping.
